Purpose
PGT is performed during IVF to help identify embryos that are more likely to result in a healthy pregnancy. It is used to support embryo selection in specific situations such as recurrent pregnancy loss, advanced maternal age, or known genetic conditions.
Types:
PGT-A: Detects chromosomal abnormalities (aneuploidy)
PGT-M: Detects specific genetic disorders in embryos
PGT-SR: Detects structural chromosomal rearrangements
